Dale Bissland is an artist who’s work displays technical accuracy alongside emotion and sensitivity. This is a rare find and made all the more impressive as Dale is completely self taught.

After studying many of the masters of the past, particularly those from around 19th century Russian landscape painting, he has learnt how to paint in a manner which displays an advanced skill set with a strong focus on craftsmanship set in a contemporary, realist style.

Dale paints places he knows: Scottish landscapes, personal interiors and at times also includes a figurative element of people he is close to.

No matter what the subject of his choice all his work displays equal amounts of depth. He is lead intuitively and builds each piece meticulously over many months, sometimes years.

He is primarily attracted to light, mood, emotion and often suggests a narrative left to the viewers imagination.
